$5,000 reward offered for information leading to arrest of suspect in woman’s death

UPDATE (March 3, 2018): An online reward for information on the identity of the woman who died in a car crash in Alabama has reached $5.2 million, officials said Friday.

The reward was offered to the public and the local and state police departments in the state of Alabama, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The reward was also offered to anyone who can provide information leading the investigation of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.

“We are asking the public to come forward and share information with the Montgomery Sheriff’s Department, the Alabama Department of Public Safety and the Alabama Highway Patrol,” the statement said.

Authorities said a woman died in the car that was struck by a tractor-trailer in the town of St. Simons Island on Wednesday.

Her name has not been released.

Police said a man and woman in their 50s were involved in the accident.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The man, who is believed to be the driver of the tractor-tractor, has been taken into custody.
